Part There of this serious is more about what not to wear. Sometimes just eliminating what you shouldn't wear helps in picking out the perfect outfits.
5 Tips for Finding Which Outfits Aren't for You
Tip #1: Don't Try To Be Someone You Aren't
It is one thing to tap into another side of your personality and push the envelope and it is a totally different thing to go with an outfit that you are completely uncomfortable in. If you aren't comfortable in the outfit, you won't be as confident during the shoot, and it will show. If you are planning on pushing the envelope and are going with an outfit far from your normal, I recommend wearing it around the house for a few hours. Look at yourself in the mirror. Play it up, and have fun with it. Never take yourself too seriously!
Tip #2: Don't Mix Shades of Red
I guess this could be said about a lot of colors, but red is the one that I feel is the most obvious. If you are going with a nice dark red lip, don't also wear red, and have red nails. Most likely they all won't be the same shade of red, and at least one of them will end up coming off more orange and it will be a mix of all the shades, instead of one bold statement shade. So if you want to wear a red outfit, avoid red nails. If you want a bold red lip, avoid wearing an all red outfit. If you love an all red outfit, then keep your nails a more neutral color. Thinking about how the colors will play together is important, and if you have any questions about the colors you are mixing, please don't hesitate to ask!
Tip #3: Try Sitting, Laying, Standing, Rolling Around in Your Outfits Ahead of Time
We don't often think about how an outfit will look once we start moving around. Does it cut in at the wrong places, does it smush your boobs down, does it flatten your booty? Knowing this will help you either avoid certain outfits or it will help with posing if it is an outfit you love. If you have a pair of panties that are are your favorite but the second you move they are all over the place, then you know and can move accordingly. Just look at these stunning panties. They photographed amazing, but moved every time she did. So we made sure to take all the standing pictures first, when she could place them just right. Then she switched to a more comfortable pair for the rest of the shoot.
Tip #4: Think Outside of the Box
Boudoir isn't exclusively for lingerie, it is about showcasing you and your stunning self. I've had clients that wore nothing but t-shirts and panties, and those that wore nearly nothing. These images are about you being you, so rock whatever speaks to you. Maybe you want to wear a jersey of your significant other's favorite team, maybe you want to wear a jersey of your favorite team, maybe an old work shirt that is covered in holes and paint stains, maybe you want to wear jeans and sports bra, maybe you want to wear a full length lace dress. Think about what is important to you, what is something that says something about you, and GO FOR IT!
Tip #5: Don't Forget the Accessories
Here I'm talking about the heels, earrings, necklaces, robes, a veil, headband, favorite piece of jewelry, tights, etc. The little pieces can make an outfit that makes you feel good-ish to drop dead gorgeous. And you should feel that way! For example, if you are looking for more of that badass persona then add the heels, add the thigh-high tights, add the big bold jewelry pieces. We can always tone it down throughout the shoot, or amp it up depending. Never be worried about bringing too much to your shoot. You would rather have it, than wish you had it later!
