The Bodies In Water Project
My Bodies in Water Project was born from talking with a friend over a glass of wine, you know how most good ideas start.
We were talking about how water is a force of its own, and has this feelings of being one of life’s equalizers. Water doesn’t care what you look like, how much you’re worth, or your level of confidence. It just is. This all came from us talking about how being in a swimsuit can make even the most confident appearing individuals appear to be uncomfortable - thank you society norms for that one. But, once you get in the water, some of those uncomfortable feelings to wash away.
We all know water is see through, and yet in the water I know I find myself less concerned with what I look like and relaxes me.
Which is what made me start to dig a little deeper, and the more people I spoke with the more I realized that water has a definitive effect on everyone, good or bad. Most either loved the water or hated it, there really wasn’t much in-between.
The more I talked about it the more I realized that this, this would be my passion project. I would let water be the the link through the entire project. I would focus on how people exist in water unapologetically.
I’m encouraging each person to take the wheel when it comes to their wardrobe choices and location, giving advice and input when asked. And at the end of each session I’m sending a questionnaire where they can give insight into what water feels like to them.
I’m excited to announce that this project doesn’t have an end date yet, I see it as being an revolving project where I can encourage all walks of persons to take 15 minutes to be unapologetically themselves, no judgements, no worries, just some time existing in water.
