I believe the different between the two is one of the driving forces behind the photoshoot. For me a Boudoir experience is motivated by having a luxury product as an end result, something you can look back on and enjoy. Where an Empowerment experience is about creating a feeling. 

Boudoir experiences absolutely result in feeling of empowerment, increased self worth, body acceptance and all the other warm and fuzzies but that isn’t the sole reason behind the photoshoot. Instead you’re looking for something to document your unapologetic self that could be shared with a partner or keep for just yourself, like wall art, albums or prints. 

Empowerment can still end with a product, but that isn’t the intention starting out. Instead the intention is to generate feelings of empowerment, self worth, body acceptance and capturing raw moments that serve as an f you to society and the unrealistic standards that are expected of us.
