The Library Ballroom in Macon, Georgia was absolutely stunning and filled with so much amazing history
When I was searching for the perfect location for my March Marathon (2019) I knew I wanted a place full of history and character, and the Library Ballroom did not disappoint. As a matter of fact this history behind this amazing building is impressive. It was originally constructed in 1889 "to house Macon's first public library."
After the Library itself moved to a new location the building transformed into what was known as the College Discotheque (a nightclub) in the 1960s, which was popular upon local musicians. It was in this very building that people once paid $1 per ticket on May 2nd 1969 to "hear a new band under local management know as the Allman Brothers Band." This would be known as the "Allman Brothers first paid gig".
After near demolition the building itself was saved and renovated to all its glory and is now on the National Registrar of Historic Places. All this history and more can be found at the Library Ballroom's website.
On the bottom floor you can find a business, the second floor ballrooms can be rented out for events, and the third floor is where the suite itself is located, which also can be rented out (I rented the suite through AirBnB).
I had instantly fell in love with the curved brick wall in the main room when I saw it online, and I was even more impressed when I got to see it in person. Throughout the entire location there were so many wonderful backdrops to use for a boudoir shoot. There are brick walls, big beautiful windows, an oversized brown leather chair, and tons of natural light.
