Weekly Empowerment: Week 2
Let's talk about the most hated thing in a lot of households, the scale, and why we don't have one in our house.
So much of diet culture is focused around how losing pounds equals success. That some how a smaller number on the scale means that you better than when there was a larger number on the scale. That a smaller number on a scale means you will be more successful, have more friends, find more love, ... etc etc etc.
I am here to tell you that, that, all of that, is a lie.
Worth isn't dictated by your weight.
Let me say that again, weight does not equal your worth.
The two aren't connected, it is like comparing apples to skyscrapers. They aren't the same thing.
Weighing less, or being smaller does not guarantee that you will be healthier, happier, more successful, or more loved.
You know what does guarantee those things, being confident, paying attention to your body, and giving less shit about what shitty people think about you.
Let's think about this...
If you are paying attention to your body, and taking care of it you can be healthier and happier, even if you don't weigh less.
If you are confident you can find happiness easier, you know what you want and you go for it, no more just sitting and wishing, because you fear you aren't worth the happiness.
If you care less about what others might think you can focus on being you and moving towards your wants and needs in a less stressful way.
Your weight is nothing more than a number on a scale.
In this house, we found that we were negative focused when we were able to weigh ourselves anytime we wanted with a home scale. The number on the scare would directly effect our mood, our attitude, and our stress levels. It was a bad habit and we dropped it.
Honestly, getting rid of the scale has made such a massive difference in how I listen to my body. I'm not looking for validation from a scale, instead I'm listening to validation from my body. I'm focusing on which foods make me feel happy, which ones make it easier for me to move and be active, which ones I need to avoid because they play a big role in my discomfort. And that is so much healthier than hyper focusing on a number.

- Why do I focus on the weight more than my worth

- What can I do to pull focus back to feeling healthy rather than my weight "reading" healthy
