In the beginning I thought Instagram was just pretty pictures and filters, but it is so much more than that,
It is a place for advocacy
It is a place for learning
It is a place to be in awe of the amazing work of others
not to mention filters really aren't that big of a thing after all, because lets face it, #nofilter is almost always trending...right?
I may not know a ton about social media, because let's face it at 35 I'm practically a dinosaur in trendy social media world. But I do know that Instagram is a vital resource when it comes to body positivity and our self-love journey. Which is why I'm sharing the TOP 2 people you need to be following on Instagram!
Shall we just jump right in with who you should absolutely be following on instagram...
#1 People Who Look Like You
Following people that look like we do allows us to start seeing our bodies in a more approachable way, it normalizes how we see ourselves in the world.
#2 People Who Look Nothing Like You
Yep, I said it. If you want to diversify your empathy and understand of how the world effects others there is no better way than following the journey of others. And you have to do more than just look at their pictures and reels, you have to read their stories, hear their stories, and for the love of everything allow them to see, experience, and share their experiences of the world how it pertains to them, not you.
Did you expect something more? Two names that are top of the top and better than everyone else...well I hate to break it to you, but those don't exist on a definitive scale. The people I follow most may be very different than yours and here is the funny thing, that is OKAY! The number of followers someone has isn't an indication of if you will benefit from following their journey. The only indication is if you feel a connection to them.
Okay, okay, I'm not going to leave you completely hanging here. I am going to share with you a few of my favorite accounts you should really consider looking at and following because...well because I said so.
