A little over a week ago I did a photo series over on one of my instagrams in honor of an uncle I lost suddenly. This is a collection of those images as well as some that weren't included.
"One year ago today I was walking back and forth waiting for my phone to ring to tell me, what had happened.
All I knew was they were taking my one uncle to the hospital. That he had hit his head. You see my family has a track record of sudden trips to the hospital, so I wasn’t worried. I figured once he was settled in the hospital someone would call and give me the lowdown of what happened.
This phone call was different. When I answered I heard silence, not chatter. Followed by the words, “he’s gone”.
It knocked the wind out of me.
How could that be? How could someone as rock solid as him be gone.
I still find myself surprised and a little lost for words when I think about it.
But one thing I did learn, is that our family wasn’t the only people who saw more than his tough exterior. The outpour of stories of his kindness, friendship, support, and selflessness brings a sense of calm and pride in the fact that I had the opportunity to call him my uncle.
In honor of uncle Steve, this weeks collection consists of images I had the opportunity of capturing around his home and garages. Steve, you are missed more than you ever would have ever approved of. -@taralynphoto, Instagram
